While most of the somewhat more serious newspapers are leading with news about the spending cuts, the Daily Star is running with a bit of X Factor-related news:

Mind you, it sounds pretty shocking so perhaps there is a justification for leading with the story… Let’s see:
KATIE Waissel last night sparked fears for her health after blacking out during a chaotic shopping trip.
Nothing to justify the “KATIE OUT OF X FACTOR” headline yet… Maybe it’s a bit lower down:
The blonde singer fainted and had to be treated by first aiders.
Still nothing there… As the “OUT OF X FACTOR” part is supposed to be in some way key to the story, wouldn’t you think they’d have mentioned that somewhere near the top of the article?
Let’s give them one more chance and take a look at the third paragraph:
Her health scare has caused X Factor bosses to worry about whether she is coping with the pressure of being in the spotlight.
That’s it. That’s about as close as the article gets to justifying the headline and the prominence given to the story. Katie (not that I have any idea who that is) is NOT out of X Factor. She just fainted.
According to the Daily Mirror, who have also covered this story, Katie threatened to quit the show:

From the Mirror’s article:
Fragile X Factor hopeful Katie Waissel put her head in her hands after she collapsed under the strain of the show’s punishing schedule.
The singer, 24, blacked out on a shopping trip with fellow contestants then told show bosses: “I’ve had enough.”
So now it’s the “punishing schedule” and not that Katie “became so overwhelmed at seeing so many people”, as the Star tried to claim…
The Mirror then claims:
But after crisis talks with her family, Katie vowed to soldier on in the competition.
Panic over, then…
As a final observation, the Star’s story is described on the front page as an “exclusive”, which is rather odd seeing as the Mirror has more information on the story than the Star and that it wasn’t, you know, exclusive.
Still, what do you expect for 10 pence?
Could it be that the headline should read "Katie, out of X factor"? It's just clarifying who she is for people who don't know…
